I’m known in the Kaiju community because of the success of the self-published book: Big in Japan, written by Timothy Price. Tim came to me with the idea of a rock band fighting kaiju in a mech. He wanted it to be a typical samurai-style robot, but I told him that what he needed to do was use the American equivalent of a Samuri, since his protagonists were all Western. I suggested we use a cowboy robot. Tim named the robot “The Duke.” I’m currently illustrating his 3rd Big in Japan novel.
