Since there is little new news in my world, I thought I might just repeat what all is going on in a concise way.
1) Gestures is proceeding slowly. I’m confident it will make it’s fall release, but I’d hoped to be done with it early. You see Gestures is a recording I nearly finished long ago, then I lost all the data in the great Barnes computer crash a couple years ago, so let me tell you that re-recording this project is somewhat mind-numbing. I’m playing all kinds of ‘reward games’ with myself to get the work done. (intended release date: November ‘08)
2) The first draft-script for volume I of the Damnation Girls is complete, there is an outline for volume II. The illustrated film (VSA story) is proceeding on schedule! (intended release date: April ‘09)
3) The first Ashbylane recording is off to a good start. Ashbylane is a project involving my friend Jim Cowart and I. We have committed to finishing a project in the near future. Jim is a great songwriter, and we have often collaborated on arranging/writing projects since middle school! I’ll keep you posted as the work continues! (intended release date: September ‘09)
I’ve just entered Destiny Manifest into 3 film festivals (I think that is my limit for the year). We’ll see how it goes at the Underground Atlanta Film Fest, the Coney Island Film Fest, and the Dragon Con film fest.
I think it stands a decent shot mostly because of it’s budget…which was $0. I can’t imagine too many productions competing with me at that price point…
I listen to a podcast called “Music Tech For Me”. It is hosted by a good friend of mine named Keith Mason, who is the head of the music technology program at Belmont University. Keith interviewed me for his latest episode.
Let’s see:
1) Who Cares if You Listen? Episode 2 was published today…I’ve got a long way to go as a show host, but I think it’s getting better.
2) I rearranged a big band tune for my next recording yesterday. I’m feeling good about it, but I’ll let you know how well it turns out after the recording is finished next week.
3) I designed a T-shirt for the Belmont Strings Crossing Camp yesterday:

Anyway, I’m pleased with this result, and I look forward to telling you more about what’s up soon!
