Wow! I just finished reading this book by Susanna Clarke and it was great! Written like a history book and like a novel at the same time, Strange and Norrell was thoughtful and thought provoking.
One of my favorite elements was the diverse personalities of the two main characters. I was sympathetically drawn into both their plights. Even when they were ay odds with each other, neither ever became a villain in my mind.
Amazing.
